This course is intended for students of Master’s research mode programme. It basically exposes students to the nature of research both in theory and practice. The course is designed to emphasize on the relevance and sustainability of research topics, cultivating the mind-setting for postgraduate research and most importantly an understanding and application of Islamic worldview in analysis and research outputs. The course also seeks to equip students with research skills, methods and approaches such as textual analysis, content analysis, thematic analysis, discourse analysis, historiography, ethnography and case study, in addition to an overview of research process, library skills, formulating research problem, statement of problem, literature review, theoretical/conceptual frameworks. Finally, students will be trained in academic writing, writing process, citation techniques and formatting as a preparation for the production of research proposal and Master’s thesis.
